UNRELENTING GRACE – A United Methodist Way of Life

Fall Short-term Study options coming in September

This book by Bishop Ken Carter is an inspiring and practical resource for United Methodists who want to move forward with confidence and hope. As we wrestle with the effects of the pandemic, social disruption, and conflicts, Unrelenting Grace offers guidance for stepping into the future as individuals and as communities of faith.

Ken Carter reminds us of our core values as United Methodists, prompting us to rediscover, redefine, and reclaim the power of grace, holiness, and connection. We will see afresh ways to bridge the gap between faith and life, and rediscover deep connections of unity and love – and insights and courage to overcome feelings of isolation, loneliness, and alienation.

THE WIDENING OF GOD’S MERCY: Sexuality within the biblical story

by Christopher B. Hays and Richard B. Hays

Mondays
October 6 – November 17 (skipping November 3)
4:30-5:30 pm
Celebration Center, Rm C-111
Facilitators: Merryl Dietz and Kerry Tilden

For decades, the question of whether LGBTQ persons should be included in Christian communities has been debated by those of almost every denomination.

These authors, a father (a New Testament scholar) and son (an Old Testament scholar) explore a more expansive way of listening to the overarching story told in the scriptures.  They remind us of a dynamic and gracious God, consistently broadening God’s grace to include more and more people.

We will be discussing the entire book over six weeks this Fall.  We invite all to come, no matter your opinions.  If you are interested, please purchase the book and read along with us.  We will be assigning chapters as we go.  Please join us for what we hope will be lively and informative conversation!

To sign-up, please contact Connie Borgianini, Director of Christian Education

Children + Youth

Children are an important part of our gatherings at St. Andrew. All children are welcome to worship with us at St. Andrew By-The-Sea whether they live in our community or are visitors. Here at SABTS, not only do our children get a sense of belonging, but they learn who and whose they are as God’s love is experienced through caring adults who want to share their faith with others. We encourage parents to set priorities for assuring the faith education of their children just as they would for math or reading.
